The Egyptian handball national team made history by being the first-ever Arab & African country to advance to the handball semi-finals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by beating Germany 31-26.
Egypt qualified to the quarter-finals after coming second in Group B behind world champions Denmark with four wins and one loss.
Germany, on the other hand, came third in Group A behind France and Spain with three wins and two losses.
However, the Egyptians successfully widened the gap once again to four goals for the first half to end with the result of 16-12.
The second half wasn’t different, with the spectacular performance from Egypt goalkeeper Karim Hendawy, it was extremely difficult for Germany to take the lead from the African champions.
