Denmark were stupendous in Group A after they topped the table, having garnered eight points from five games with a goal difference of 35. The team marched along in the Tokyo Olympics, beating Japan, Egypt, Bahrain and Portugal with comprehensive margins.
Just when they looked set to win five out of five, Sweden beat them 33-30. In the quarter-final against Norway on Tuesday, August 3, Denmark came out trumps by a margin of 31-25. Their semi-final match against Spain is expected to go right down to the wire.
Spain could consider themselves on the luckier side in their first two matches against Germany and Norway. In both games, they won by a margin of 28-27. Thereafter, Spain upped their game a wee bit and beat Brazil 32-25. Beating France wasn’t a tough task either.
Spain ended their Group games in style, beating Argentina 36-27. They finished second in their group with eight points and a goal difference of 13. In their quarter-final match on Tuesday, Sweden had to work hard, but in the end, they won the match 34-33.
