After defeating Mississippi State in a dominant fashion, Louisville’s men’s basketball program will now face Maryland in the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship game.
Against the Bulldogs, the Cardinals were in total control from start to finish. It was Louisville’s best defensive outing this season, keeping Mississippi State just 33.3 percent off the ground and 1-15 on three-point attempts, will also decisively win the rebound battle at 47. -38.
As for Maryland, although they are 5-1 on the year, they haven’t looked very impressive to start the year. Their average margin of victory is just 5.8 against a less than impressive non-conference roster, even losing at home to George Mason. In their opening game of the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship, they followed Richmond to 12 before coming back with a bang.
It will be the eighth all-time game between Louisville and Maryland, with the Cardinals claiming a 5-2 advantage in the series. They last played in the 2000 Maui Invitational, with Louisville leading 95-73, thanks in part to 22 points from Reece Gaines.
