MTV VMAs 2020 Live

The MTV VMAs 2020 show is going down this Sunday, August 30, at 8 p.m. ET. It’s going to be a stacked night, with performances from Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, BTS, Maluma, The Weeknd, and more. With such an impressive lineup—and a competitive race as far as nominations are concerned—you won’t want to miss it.

But will you be able to watch the VMAs live? Will there be a VMAs live stream? Or will it just be on cable? I’m personally so excited to watch the VMAs 2020, so I’m earmarking exactly how to do it so come Sunday, I’m set. You should too!

Well, sort of. If you don’t have a traditional cable box, you can watch the MTV VMAs via a stream on or the MTV app. If you have Hulu Live or YouTube TV, that works too. The VMAs will simulcast across BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nick at Nite, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1, as well as The CW.

Yes, a pre-show will start at 6:30 p.m. ET, and it can be accessed on all the above platforms. It will feature performances from Chloe x Halle, Jack Harlow, Lewis Capaldi, Tate McRae, and Machine Gun Kelly featuring Travis Barker and blackbear.

Like we said earlier, it will kick off Sunday, August 30 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV. This year’s host is Keke Palmer, and many of the performances will take place live at outdoor venues all across New York City (in keeping with coronavirus safety guidelines). To see a full list of nominees, click here.
